Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Stade de Reims: PSG held to draw by Reims despite Dembele's goal

Paris Saint-Germain were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against mid-table Stade de Reims at the Parc des Princes on Saturday. While the result extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 10 points, it also highlighted missed opportunities for the French champions.

PSG began the game on the front foot, with Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos actively probing the Reims defense. However, Reims also posed a threat, with Keito Nakamura testing Gianluigi Donnarumma in the opening half. Both sides created chances in what was a lively and competitive first 45 minutes.

The breakthrough came just two minutes into the second half. Ousmane Dembélé fired PSG into the lead with a well-taken left-footed strike, assisted by new signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was making his debut under manager Luis Enrique.

Reims responded quickly, equalizing in the 56th minute through Keito Nakamura. The goal came after a swift counter-attack led by Marshall Munetsi, catching PSG off guard.

PSG pushed hard for a winner in the closing stages, with substitute Bradley Barcola and Vitinha both coming close. Despite their efforts, the hosts were unable to break down a resilient Reims defense.

"It was a complicated game. Reims are a good team," said Kvaratskhelia after the match. "We could have won, we had a lot of chances, but we have to keep working and the results will follow. It wasn’t easy. We deserved the draw."

PSG will now turn their attention to their midweek clash against VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League, where they aim to secure a playoff spot. Defender Lucas Hernandez emphasized the importance of recovery, stating, "Now we have to focus on Wednesday's game because we're playing every three days. We need to recover well."

The draw comes on the back of PSG’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League, showcasing their potential in Europe despite domestic frustrations.
