Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 Stade Brestois 29: Dembele stars as Parisiens come back to bury visitors

Paris Saint-Germain continued their perfect start to the Ligue 1 season by overcoming Stade Brestois with a 3-1 victory at the Parc des Princes, marking the seventh occasion in their history that they have won their first four league matches.

The match commenced with an intense pace, as the Parisians aggressively attacked Marco Bizot's goal, who remained busy during the initial fifteen minutes. The Dutch goalkeeper was first tested by Nuno Mendes and then by his Portuguese teammate Joao Neves, both of whom he thwarted with impressive saves.

The home team had a golden opportunity to score shortly thereafter when Mendes set up Marco Asensio, but the Spaniard squandered the chance by sending his shot over the bar while approaching the goal.

Despite Mendes's commendable offensive contributions, a lapse in defense allowed Brest to take the lead from the penalty spot at the half-hour mark, following a foul on Ludovic Ajorque in the area.

Romain Del Castillo converted the penalty, sending Gianluigi Donnarumma the wrong way.

Refusing to be disheartened by the setback, Luis Enrique’s squad maintained their dominance and pressed forward to equalize.

Achraf Hakimi surged down the right flank and delivered a cross to Asensio, who, unfortunately, could not connect properly, allowing Bizot to make the save.

Nevertheless, the home side persisted in their efforts and were rewarded just before halftime when Asensio redeemed himself by providing a precise cross that Ousmane Dembele headed in at the back post.

PSG resumed the second half in the same commanding manner, controlling possession and creating multiple threats to the Brest goal.

Dembele, in particular, was a constant menace on the right side, forcing Bizot into a difficult save after he cut inside and unleashed a beautifully curled shot with his left foot.

Asensio did find the net in the 60th minute, but the goal was correctly disallowed for offside.

It was another player from Spain who secured the crucial second goal for PSG, as Fabian Ruiz skillfully curled the ball into the net from the edge of the penalty area after receiving a precise pass from Hakimi.

With the lead finally established, the home team quickly extended their advantage by scoring a third goal just one minute later, as Dembele capitalized on the rebound following a blocked shot from Randal Kolo Muani.

After a moment of concern in the first half, Enrique’s team emerged as comfortable victors, and their focus now shifts to the UEFA Champions League, where Girona will visit Paris on Wednesday. Additionally, Brest will also be competing, marking their debut in Europe’s premier club tournament as they host the Austrian team Sturm Graz.
