Paris Saint-Germain win third-straight Ligue 1 title after Monaco lose

Paris Saint-Germain has officially been declared the champions of Ligue 1 for the twelfth time in their history. This achievement was sealed after Monaco failed to secure a victory against Lyon on Sunday.
Prior to this, PSG had the opportunity to secure the title with a win against Le Havre on Saturday, but they could only manage a 3-3 draw in a thrilling match at a rainy Pac des Princes.
With the focus then shifting to Monaco's match against Lyon, it became clear that anything other than a Monaco win would guarantee the title for Paris Saint-Germain. As Lyon emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline, PSG's championship victory was confirmed.
Expressing his delight, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi stated, "Winning the league is an incredible achievement, but clinching the Ligue 1 title for the twelfth time holds even greater significance for everyone associated with Paris Saint-Germain.
" He further added, "We will cherish this moment as a united family while continuing to work diligently, match after match, until the very end of the season."
PSG's third consecutive title is a significant achievement for manager Luis Enrique, who successfully navigated the team through challenging times in his first year with the club.
Following a draw on Saturday, Luis Enrique remained unfazed due to their significantly better goal difference.
"We are the champions. Whether there is a celebration or not, it doesn't matter," he confidently stated to the press.
With a goal difference of plus 29 over the second-placed team, I already consider us champions. Even if we don't earn any more points, we will still be champions.
Luis Enrique has guided the team to 20 victories, 10 draws, and only one loss in the league so far, aiming for more trophies before the season concludes.
In addition to reaching the Coupe de France final against Lyon in late May, PSG is also in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Champions League title has been elusive for PSG's wealthy Qatari owners since acquiring the club in 2011, making it a top priority for them.
PSG will face Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.
Despite being strong contenders for the French title each season due to their financial resources, PSG has faced challenges this campaign.
Off-field issues, such as Kylian Mbappe's desire to leave the club this summer, have impacted the team, leading Luis Enrique to manage his playing time carefully after the announcement.
