Pascal Siakam score 23 points to lead Raptors Rout

On a Sunday clash against the struggling Detroit Pistons, the Toronto Raptors unleashed a dominating performance that showcased their offensive prowess. Pascal Siakam led the scoring charge with 23 points, backed impressively by Scottie Barnes and Dennis Schroder, who contributed 17 points each. This collective effort ensured the Raptors never trailed throughout the game, ultimately clinching a resounding 142-113 victory.

Barnes stood out not only in scoring but also in facilitating, dishing out nine assists, orchestrating Toronto's offense brilliantly. The Raptors set a franchise record with an astounding 44 assists, surpassing Detroit's made baskets that numbered 39, a testament to their cohesive team play.

Center Jakob Poeltl emphasized the fluidity and cohesion among the Raptors, expressing, “Today was one of those games where the ball was on a string for us. Everybody was sharing the ball, everybody was moving well. You create a lot of easy shots that way.”

This exceptional passing display shattered their previous record of 40 assists set back in November 2019 against Charlotte. The Raptors have been consistently racking up 25 or more assists in their recent games, marking a streak of nine consecutive matches, the second-longest in team history behind a 10-game stretch achieved in January 2020.

The Pistons, in contrast, struggled to match Toronto's intensity, with Stanley Umude scoring 19 points and Cade Cunningham contributing 18. Cunningham lamented the team's hardships, acknowledging the difficulty of their situation and the necessity to address their shortcomings.

Meanwhile, Toronto showcased depth and versatility as players like Gary Trent Jr., Chris Boucher, and Precious Achiuwa made significant contributions off the bench. The Raptors' dominance was evident, extending their lead to as much as 40 points while securing their fifth consecutive win against Detroit.

Looking ahead, the Pistons are set to face the defending NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets, hoping to reverse their fortunes. On the other hand, the Raptors are geared up for a matchup against the Orlando Magic in their quest to continue their winning streak.
