Paul defeats Musetti to win Queen's Club Championship

Tommy Paul, the fifth seed from the United States, won his first grasscourt title on Sunday, defeating Italy's Lorenzo Musetti 6-1 7-6(8) in the Queen's Club Championships.

The 27-year-old's third career title will propel him ahead of Taylor Fritz in the ATP rankings, making him the top-ranked American in men's singles.

Paul dominated the first set, hitting three aces, while Musetti struggled with unforced errors. Paul also broke in the second set and served for the win with a 5-4 lead, but Musetti broke back to force a tiebreak.

Musetti, 22, fought hard in the breaker, saving two match points and securing a set point, but Paul eventually won the prolonged battle.

"I want to congratulate Lorenzo on a good week. He’s been playing amazing tennis," Paul said. "I’m happy to get the win today. I’m happy to share the court with you. This is the perfect way to go to Wimbledon."

Paul, who advanced to the third round of Wimbledon last year, will compete in the Grand Slam for the fifth time, beginning July 1.
