Paul Pogba banned from football for four years due to doping offence

According to several reports, Paul Pogba (30) has received a four-year suspension from football due to a doping violation that occurred earlier this season.

Paul Pogba, the French midfielder, was found to have tested positive for testosterone, a hormone known to enhance athletes' endurance, following Juventus' initial match of the season against Udinese in August. Consequently, he is now facing severe repercussions.

In October, a counter-analysis confirmed Pogba's positive doping test on a second sample.

Despite his legal team's assertion that the substance was mistakenly ingested, Pogba refused a plea bargain in hopes of receiving a reduced penalty. However, the prosecution did not accept their argument.

While Juventus refrained from commenting, a source verified that the club had been informed of the decision to impose a four-year ban on Pogba. The club will now deliberate on the subsequent actions to be taken.

Pogba, who remains under contract with Juventus, will not be eligible to compete until 2028, by which time he will be 34 years old.

The midfielder's return to the Italian club has been marred by a series of injuries since his departure from Manchester United on a free transfer in 2022. Last season, the 2018 World Cup champion was sidelined due to knee and hamstring issues, as well as knee surgery, preventing him from representing France at the World Cup in Qatar.
