Pedro and Fernandez fire Chelsea to derby win over Fulham amid injury woes

Chelsea overcame early setbacks as young striker Liam Delap exited in the 13th minute with a hamstring issue, joining the lengthy injury list that already includes Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill, ruled out with a cruciate ligament tear.

Despite Fulham teenager Joshua King's run into the box resulting in a goal, it was disallowed after VAR ruled Rodrigo Muniz stepped on Trevoh Chalobah's foot in the build-up. The decision sparked criticism from Fulham boss Marco Silva, who questioned VAR consistency.

Cheered by a late first-half surge, Chelsea took the lead just before halftime. Enzo Fernández delivered a corner that Joao Pedro met with a clinical header—his fifth goal in five matches. Early in the second half, Fernández converted a penalty after Chalobah's cross struck Ryan Sessegnon's arm, making it 2-0.

Chelsea protected their clean sheet despite late Fulham pressure, with Pedro even clearing a header off the line in the 87th minute.

The Blues now turn their attention to a post-international break clash with Brentford on September 13, while Fulham will host Leeds United on the same weekend.
