Pelicans defeat Wizards 142-122 behind a season-high 40 points from Ingram

Jonas Valanciunas recorded 16 points and 18 rebounds, while CJ McCollum contributed 22 points as the Pelicans embarked on a three-game road trip without their star player Zion Williamson, who was sidelined due to an ankle sprain.
According to Murphy, the team possesses numerous players who possess the ability to score and make valuable contributions to the team's success.
Ingram, Murphy, Valanciunas, and McCollum collectively shot an impressive 62.5% from the field, with a combined total of 35 successful shots out of 56 attempts. This performance allowed New Orleans to surpass their previous season high point record of 131.
Pelicans coach Willie Green emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges of winning basketball games in the NBA, regardless of the opponent. Despite a slow start, the team managed to regain momentum and focus on executing plays effectively.
According to Green, Williamson is currently day to day after sustaining the injury during Monday's victory against Minnesota.
Version 1: Washington was led by Kyle Kuzma, who scored 27 points. Although they had a 15-point lead early on, they fell behind in the second quarter.
Version 2: Bilal Coulibaly, the seventh pick in the draft, contributed 16 points, including four 3-pointers, which is a rare occurrence in his young career.
Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. praised Coulibaly's improvement in long-range shooting, stating that he has put in a lot of work and it's positive to see him find his rhythm.
This week, the Wizards allowed over 140 points for the second time, suffering a 146-101 loss to Philadelphia on Monday. This marks their 20th loss in 23 games, the quickest they have reached this loss total since the 2012-13 season.
The Pelicans managed to erase most of their early deficit by the end of the first quarter and took the lead when Murphy made a 3-pointer to make it 42-40.
During a 22-4 run in the second quarter, the Pelicans continued to dominate with McCollum and Murphy contributing 3-pointers. They scored a season-best 47 points in the second quarter and 75 points in the first half.
Green praised Murphy's shooting range, stating that once he sees one shot go in, his range becomes unlimited.
Up next, the Pelicans will visit Charlotte on Friday, while the Wizards will host Indiana on the same day.
