Pep Guardiola 'happy' Manchester City hearing finally set to start

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction that the club's long-anticipated hearing regarding 115 charges filed by the Premier League is scheduled to commence on Monday.
The club is facing allegations of 80 violations of financial regulations occurring between 2009 and 2018, in addition to 35 counts of failing to cooperate with a Premier League investigation.
The reigning English champions are accused of not providing accurate financial data during the specified period, which includes details on sponsorship revenue and the salaries of both managers and players.
City has firmly denied any misconduct, and Guardiola has consistently supported his leadership when questioned about the allegations in the past.
"Let it begin soon, and I hope it concludes swiftly," Guardiola remarked regarding the hearing during his pre-match press conference on Friday, prior to Brentford's visit to the Etihad. "I am eager for the outcome.
"I am pleased that it is starting on Monday. I am aware that there will be further speculation and new experts discussing potential outcomes.
"We will see. I understand what the public anticipates and what they expect. I have been reading various opinions for many years. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Therefore, we shall wait."
Should the club be found guilty of any or all charges, they could face significant penalties, including a potential points deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League.
The hearing is expected to last a minimum of two months, with a verdict not anticipated until 2025.
The Premier League initiated these charges in February 2023, but there has been a prolonged delay before the case could advance to an independent commission.
In the interim, City has secured two additional Premier League titles and achieved their first Champions League victory last year.
Since the acquisition by Sheikh Mansour, a member of the United Arab Emirates royal family, in 2008, City has evolved into a formidable presence in English football.
They have claimed eight of the last 13 Premier League titles, including a record four consecutive championships over the past four seasons.
