Pep Guardiola signs two-year contract extension with Manchester City

Manchester City has announced that manager Pep Guardiola, aged 53, has signed a two-year contract extension, prolonging his stay at the club until the summer of 2027. This extension comes more than ten years after he first joined the team in 2016.
Despite increasing speculation regarding his potential departure at the conclusion of the current season, the Spaniard has opted to renew his commitment to the club. Reports indicate that the agreement includes an option for an additional year, contingent upon mutual consent, which could see Guardiola remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2028.
Since his arrival, Guardiola has transformed Manchester City into one of Europe's premier football clubs, securing six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, and the Champions League trophy. He has also led the team through several record-setting seasons, including a historic treble and a remarkable 100-point campaign in the Premier League.
"Manchester City holds immense significance for me," Guardiola stated, having achieved 353 victories in 490 matches, resulting in a win rate of 72 percent and an average of 2.45 goals per game.
"This marks my ninth season here, and we have shared countless extraordinary moments. I possess a unique bond with this football club.
"That is why I am delighted to extend my stay for another two seasons.
"I extend my gratitude to everyone for their unwavering trust and support – the Owner, Chairman Khaldoon, Ferran, Txiki, the players, and, of course, the fans… everyone associated with Manchester City. It has consistently been an honor, a pleasure, and a privilege to be part of this club.
"I have expressed this sentiment numerous times, but I have everything a manager could desire, and I am profoundly grateful for that.
"My aim now is to add more trophies to our collection. That will be my primary focus."
In an official statement on their website, the club celebrated the news with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the esteemed coach: "The Catalan’s new contract will ensure he has spent over a decade as the manager of City."
Guardiola's tenure at Manchester City has been marked by remarkable achievements. To date, he has secured 18 major trophies, which include six Premier League championships and one UEFA Champions League title.
With their victory in the Premier League last season, City made history as the first men's team in English football to clinch four consecutive top-flight titles.
The previous season was particularly noteworthy, as Guardiola guided City to an extraordinary Treble, comprising the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup, marking the pinnacle of success in the club's 130-year existence.
Under his guidance, City also became the inaugural team in Premier League history to accumulate 100 points in a single season (2017/18) and the first in English football to capture all four domestic trophies in one campaign (2018/19).
City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak commended Guardiola's leadership and expressed his hope that Guardiola would continue to set new records with the club:
"As a devoted City supporter, I am thrilled that Pep's journey with Manchester City will persist, enabling his commitment, enthusiasm, and innovative approach to further influence the evolution of the sport."
His relentless pursuit of enhancement and achievement is unquenchable, and the primary beneficiaries will consistently be our players and coaching staff, the ethos of our Club, and the broader English football community.
"This extension will see Pep surpass ten years of coaching at Manchester City, providing him with the chance to further redefine the records in management."
This announcement serves as a boost for the club's leadership, even amidst the ongoing inquiry into Manchester City regarding 115 allegations of violating Financial Fair Play regulations over a nine-year span, from 2009 to 2018.
