Piastri angered by 'embarrassing' Austrian GP grid drop

McLaren's Oscar Piastri expressed his disappointment after dropping from third to seventh on the Austrian Grand Prix starting grid due to a track limits violation during qualifying.

Last year, there were 1,200 incidents of drivers exceeding track limits at Spielberg, leading to increased scrutiny this year.

Despite the addition of gravel strips at certain corners, Piastri was penalized for going beyond the limits at turn six.

He described the situation as embarrassing, especially since he believed he had stayed on the track.

Piastri questioned the effectiveness of the track modifications and emphasized the fine line drivers walk between pushing the limits and facing penalties.

His teammate Lando Norris qualified second, setting up an exciting race alongside Max Verstappen.
