Pochettino Advised Me Not To Go Into Coaching - Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta shared insights into his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino and the advice he received from the Paris Saint-Germain boss. The two former teammates will find themselves on opposing sides as their respective teams, Arsenal and Chelsea, face off.
Arteta and Pochettino played together at Paris Saint-Germain during the early stages of Arteta's career. The Arsenal manager considers Pochettino a "role model" and someone who had a significant impact on his football career. Pochettino mentored Arteta during their time at PSG.
Speaking about their relationship, Arteta recalled their early days in Paris: "It was my first professional opportunity in Paris, and we arrived together at the same time. We lived together in a hotel for three months."
Arteta emphasized the influence Pochettino had on him, not only as a player but also in his transition to a coaching career. He described Pochettino as someone who cared for him, offered confidence, and valuable advice. Arteta credits Pochettino as a significant factor in his success during his PSG days.
Arteta acknowledged Pochettino's role in his life, saying: "He has been a role model for me since that day, not only when I was a player but as a manager as well because I had to make a decision to leave playing and start my coaching career. He had a big say in that, and I will always be grateful for what he has done for me."
However, Arteta playfully mentioned that Pochettino advised him not to enter the coaching profession. Arteta recalled Pochettino telling him, "Don't go into coaching. It's too hard."
Despite this, Arteta recognized Pochettino's leadership qualities even during their playing days. Arteta closely followed Pochettino's career and had immense respect for his approach to the game.
The two former teammates will set aside their personal history as they face each other in the high-stakes clash between Arsenal and Chelsea. As they stand on opposing sides of the pitch, the respect and influence they have had on each other's careers remain as strong as ever.
