Poston holds off Ghim's challenge to secure PGA Tour victory in Las Vegas

JT Poston, withstood late challenges from Doug Ghim, 28, by recording five birdies in a four-under-par 67, securing the third title of his career on the US PGA Tour on Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Poston, who is currently ranked 64th globally, concluded the tournament with a total score of 22-under par 262 at TPC Summerlin, finishing one stroke ahead of Ghim.
Ghim achieved an eagle and four birdies during his six-under-par 65, which included a crucial six-foot birdie on the final hole, bringing his total to 21-under 263.
Poston, who was tied for the lead when play was suspended due to darkness on Saturday, birdied three of his last five holes to finish with a five-under-par 66 in the third round on Sunday morning, entering the final round with a three-stroke advantage over Ghim.
The tournament faced delays due to hazardous winds, resulting in a four-hour interruption on Friday.
Ghim narrowed the gap to one stroke with an 11-foot eagle at the par-five ninth hole.
However, Poston responded with a 21-foot birdie at the 12th hole and followed it with a three-foot birdie at the par-five 13th, extending his lead back to three strokes.
Poston added another birdie at the 15th hole, but Ghim continued to apply pressure with a birdie at the par-five 16th. Poston then missed a four-foot par putt at the par-three 17th, reducing his lead to two strokes as they approached the 18th tee.
Ultimately, this margin proved sufficient. After Ghim successfully made his birdie putt, Poston confidently converted his four-footer for par, marking his first victory since the 2022 John Deere Classic.
"I reminded myself that this is the moment you dream of - having a putt to win on the PGA Tour," Poston remarked, noting that he aimed to "forget" about his earlier missed putts on 16 and 17.
"I didn't execute well on those strokes, but I reassured myself that I've made countless putts before, and Ghim is in this. Just one more to go."
Ghim, currently ranked 148th in the world, continues to seek his inaugural PGA Tour title.
Germany's Matti Schmid and Rico Hoey from the Philippines each recorded a score of five-under par 66, placing them in a tie for third at 19-under 265.
American Michael Kim made a significant move up the leaderboard with an impressive final round of 62, finishing with a total of 18-under par 266. He shares fifth place with Davis Thompson and South Korea's Lee Kyoung-hoon, both of whom also posted scores of 66.
South Korean Tom Kim, the champion in both 2022 and 2023, was unable to make the cut in his attempt to secure a third consecutive title.
