Prescott Shines, Wilson Struggles as Cowboys Beat Jets 30-10

Dak Prescott delivered a strong performance with two touchdown passes, while Zach Wilson struggled with three interceptions in his first start since Aaron Rodgers' injury, as the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Jets 30-10.

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas's star receiver, played a pivotal role in Prescott's success. Lamb, who had a remarkable 11 catches in the game, set up both of Prescott's touchdown passes with key plays. Additionally, kicker Brandon Aubrey impressed with five field goals in his home debut, further contributing to the Cowboys' commanding victory.

Dallas secured their second win of the season, following a 40-0 victory over the New York Giants in their season opener. In contrast, the Jets came into this game after an emotional overtime win over Buffalo, which marked Wilson's first start for the Jets after Rodgers' season-ending Achilles tendon injury.

Lamb's performance was particularly noteworthy, as he tied his career-high with 11 catches. One of his plays, a 25-yard catch over Tony Adams, set up tight end Jake Ferguson's 4-yard touchdown reception. Lamb also had a pivotal 20-yard catch, despite landing on his shoulder after being upended by Adams. This play led to a rookie tight end Luke Schoonmaker's first career touchdown from the 1-yard line.

While Prescott heavily targeted Lamb throughout the game, he was fortunate when Sauce Gardner missed an interception opportunity in the first half. Gardner had the chance for a pick-six that could have put the Jets in the lead before halftime, but he couldn't secure the ball.

Zach Wilson's performance was marred by three interceptions, as Jayron Kearse, Malik Hooker, and Trevon Diggs all picked off the Jets' quarterback. Although Wilson managed to connect with Garrett Wilson for a long touchdown pass, the Jets struggled offensively outside of this big play.

The Cowboys dominated possession, holding the ball for over 42 minutes and running 83 plays compared to the Jets' 46. Despite the Jets narrowing the deficit to three points in the second quarter, four second-half turnovers left little doubt about the game's outcome.

The game showcased the Cowboys' strong defense, which has excelled in takeaways over the past two seasons and ranked among the league leaders in sacks last season. Dallas' defense will be a key asset as they continue their season.

Prescott finished the game with 31 completions on 38 attempts for 255 yards, and Tony Pollard contributed 72 yards rushing. Wilson had a challenging outing, completing 12 of 27 passes for 170 yards. Kicker Brandon Aubrey, who had a 55-yard field goal among his five successful attempts, demonstrated his reliability in his home debut. Aubrey has not missed a kick since his first-ever NFL attempt, which was a missed extra point against the Giants.

Notably, Dallas defensive assistant Sharrif Floyd was taken off the field in the second half due to medical concerns. He was attended to on the sideline before being escorted to the locker room. In terms of injuries, Dallas faced setbacks with LG Chuma Edoga and RG Zack Martin. Edoga, who started in place of Tyler Smith, left the game in the second half with an elbow issue and was replaced by undrafted rookie T.J. Bass. Martin injured his ankle when Tony Pollard collided with him during a carry.
