Promoted Wrexham to play in League One for first time in 19 years

Wrexham secured back-to-back promotions with a 6-0 win over Forest Green on Saturday, ensuring a top-three finish in League Two and rewriting the script for Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Paul Mullin scored twice in Wrexham's emphatic victory over the division's bottom side, bringing the club's total to 82 points from 44 games and ensuring promotion with two games remaining.

MK Dons and Barrow's defeats meant that Wrexham could not be pushed out of the top three and will play in the English third tier next season for the first time since 2005.

Reynolds and McElhenney took over the club in November 2020, but they missed out on promotion from the National League in their first full season, before ending a 15-year absence from non-league football in the 2022-23 season.

The documentary series Welcome to Wrexham has brought international attention to the club's trials and tribulations under its famous owners.

Division leaders Stockport County have also secured their place in League One for next season, but the third promotion spot is still up for grabs, with Mansfield Town the favourites.
