PSG boss Luis Enrique eyeing historic season

Paris Saint-Germain continued their dominant run with a commanding 3-1 victory over rivals Olympique de Marseille at Parc des Princes on Sunday, further solidifying their position at the top of Ligue 1. The win capped off a sensational week for Luis Enrique’s side, following their Champions League triumph over six-time European champions Liverpool in the round of 16.

With the latest victory, PSG extended their lead in Ligue 1 to 19 points over second-placed Marseille, moving closer to securing yet another domestic title. Their ambitions, however, stretch beyond the league, with the club still in contention for multiple trophies. Having already lifted the Trophée des Champions in January, PSG have booked a place in the semi-finals of the French Cup and will also compete in the FIFA Club World Cup in June as they continue their chase for an elusive Champions League crown.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Luis Enrique praised his squad’s hunger and determination. "It's been an exceptional week for us. A classic always motivates players from both teams, and I think we put on a great show tonight," he said. "It's difficult to get the ball to Marseille, and even more so to PSG. Each coach tried to play his cards right. It's obvious that after a game like Liverpool, we had the chance to play a classic and that kept us on our toes."

The Spanish manager made no secret of PSG’s ambitions this season, emphasizing their desire to win every competition they are part of. "I'm very happy with my team and the support of our supporters. Our aim is to win Ligue 1, to win all the trophies, that's our hope. We're aware of the huge challenge facing us, and we're working hard every day to achieve (what we want)," he added.

With the Ligue 1 title within reach and a treble still on the cards, PSG now turn their attention to their next fixture against AS Saint-Étienne on March 29, as they continue their quest for an unforgettable season.
