PSV Eindhoven sign Myron Boadu from AS Monaco

PSV Eindhoven have announced the signing of Dutch striker Myron Boadu from AS Monaco, strengthening their attacking options following the injury to forward Alassane Pléa.
Boadu, 24, joins PSV on a contract running until the summer of 2026, with an option for an additional year. The transfer provides him a fresh start after a mixed spell in Ligue 1 with Monaco, where he made 68 official appearances following his move from AZ Alkmaar in 2021.
During the 2023–24 season, the forward enjoyed a productive loan spell at Bundesliga side VfL Bochum, scoring nine goals in 19 league games. He has also previously been on loan at FC Twente.
Boadu’s first words as a PSV Player
Speaking at the Philips Stadium during his unveiling, Boadu expressed his excitement about joining the Dutch champions:
“It’s an honor to be here. If a club like PSV, the Dutch champions, comes for you, you don’t hesitate. This is a team full of quality, and I believe God has answered my prayers. I’m very proud of this transfer and can’t wait to get started.”
The striker, who will wear the number 21 shirt, will not be available for PSV’s upcoming match against Telstar but is expected to debut after the international break.
PSV’s Sporting Perspective
PSV Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart highlighted why the club moved quickly to secure Boadu:
“Due to Alassane Pléa’s long-term injury, we were looking for immediate reinforcement. Myron emerged as the most interesting option. He’s a proven goalscorer and also gives a very hungry impression. We’re convinced he will help us with goals and assists both in the Eredivisie and in the Champions League.”
From AZ Prodigy to European Journeyman
Boadu rose through the AZ Alkmaar youth academy and made his senior debut in May 2018. Known for his pace, movement, and finishing, he quickly established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s most promising strikers before earning his move abroad.
Although his time at Monaco was inconsistent, his performances on loan in Germany proved he still has the qualities to deliver at the highest level. Boadu also has one senior cap for the Netherlands and brings valuable European experience, including appearances in the Europa League.
What this means for PSV
With PSV competing domestically and in Europe, Boadu’s arrival adds depth and versatility to the squad. His ability to play as a central striker and stretch defenses with pace will be crucial as the club balances its Eredivisie title defense with Champions League commitments.
