PSV Secure First UEFA Champions League Win with 4-0 Triumph Over 10-man Girona; Dinamo Zagreb Stage Comeback to Down Slovan Bratislava

PSV Eindhoven finally claimed their first UEFA Champions League victory of the season in an emphatic 4-0 win against Girona. Malik Tillman shone with two assists and a goal, as Girona struggled after captain Arnau Martinez was sent off for a second bookable offense. Meanwhile, Dinamo Zagreb recovered from an early setback to secure a strong 4-1 comeback win over Slovan Bratislava.
In Eindhoven, PSV quickly set the tone. Ryan Flamingo’s opener came with some controversy, as Malik Tillman’s long throw looked as if it might have been taken from inside the field. However, replays confirmed that Tillman’s back studs were just barely in contact with the sideline. Tillman added to Girona's woes shortly after, capitalizing on hesitant defending to drive into the six-yard box and rifle PSV’s second goal past Paulo Gazzaniga.
Girona’s night worsened early in the second half. Referee Michael Oliver issued a second yellow card to Arnau Martinez for a clumsy challenge on PSV’s Noa Lang, reducing the Spanish side to 10 men. PSV seemed poised to score a third when substitute Ismael Saibari put the ball in the net, but Oliver called it back for a contentious foul on Girona's defense. PSV sealed the win late on, as Johan Bakayoko beat Gazzaniga from the edge of the area and a defensive miscue saw Ladislav Krejci inadvertently score an own goal, ending the night 4-0 for PSV.
Elsewhere, Dinamo Zagreb staged a brilliant comeback to beat Slovan Bratislava 4-1. David Strelec put the hosts ahead in the fifth minute, but Dinamo wasted no time in responding. Dario Spikic equalized just minutes later, and Petar Sucic added a second before the break. Sandro Kulenovic then secured the points for Dinamo, netting twice in the second half to bring his Champions League tally to four for the season. With this win, Dinamo solidifies its position in the competition’s group stage, while Slovan Bratislava remains at the bottom of the table.
Both PSV and Dinamo Zagreb’s performances demonstrate the strength of their Champions League ambitions, as each side looks to capitalize on their recent momentum in upcoming fixtures
