Rafael Nadal says he aims to play at French Open and Olympic Games

On Wednesday, Rafael Nadal expressed his aspirations to participate in both the French Open and the Olympics this year. The former world number one eagerly anticipates competing in these prestigious events.
The Spanish tennis player has an impressive record of winning 22 Grand Slam singles titles, with a remarkable 14 of them being French Open victories. In an interview with Spanish broadcaster La Sexta,
Nadal expressed uncertainty about his future events, suggesting that there may not be many left for him to participate in.
However, he did mention that one of his goals is to compete in the upcoming Roland Garros tournament, which is his favorite Grand Slam event held in May.
Additionally, Nadal expressed his desire to play at the Olympics, although he couldn't confirm it at the moment but remained hopeful. Unfortunately, due to a muscle tear he suffered in Brisbane last month,
Nadal had to withdraw from the Qatar Open, prolonging his absence from competitive tennis as he continues to recover from his injury.
Furthermore, Nadal discussed his recent appointment as an ambassador for Saudi Arabia's Tennis Federation.
While acknowledging that he is being compensated for his role, he emphasized that the money does not hold significant importance in his life and will not bring about any major changes.
Nadal clarified that his contract is not as lucrative as those of other athletes, and he respects their decisions.
His agreement with Saudi Arabia involves a long-term commitment to promote the sport and inspire a new generation of tennis players. As part of this commitment,
Nadal plans to establish a Rafa Nadal Academy in the country. He clarified that his objective is not to improve Saudi Arabia's image but rather to focus on promoting tennis and achieving his personal goals.
Nadal acknowledged that there may have been a miscommunication from his team regarding his involvement with Saudi Arabia and expressed that he should have addressed the situation earlier.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia has made significant investments in various sports, including football, cycling, motor racing, and golf.
However, these investments have faced criticism from individuals who believe they are intended to divert attention from the country's human rights violations.
