Rangers dominate Europa League clash with a four-goal rout over FCSB

Rangers overcame their recent domestic difficulties with a commanding 4-0 victory over FCSB at a full Ibrox Stadium in the UEFA Europa League (UEL), providing an ideal response to their significant loss against Lyon in the previous matchday.

FCSB nearly seized an advantageous start in Glasgow when Jack Butland was caught off guard with the ball at his feet and was dispossessed by David Miculescu. However, as the winger attempted to slot the ball into an unguarded net, the referee intervened, ruling that Miculescu had committed a foul on the Rangers goalkeeper.

The home side capitalized on this fortunate escape, quickly taking the lead when Václav Cerny delivered a precise cutback to Tom Lawrence, who skillfully directed the ball into the bottom right corner of Ștefan Târnovanu’s goal.

Although the early goal instilled some confidence in the Rangers attack, they appeared susceptible defensively, with FCSB threatening to score on several counterattacks following the initial goal.

Fortunately for Rangers, their Romanian opponents were unable to convert these opportunities, and despite their own defensive vulnerabilities, Philippe Clement’s team extended their lead in the 30th minute.

FCSB carelessly surrendered possession in their own half, allowing Cerny to seize the opportunity and strike past Târnovanu from just outside the penalty area. This second goal seemed to stabilize the Rangers defense, enabling them to assert control over the match for the remainder of the first half.

FCSB emerged in the second half with renewed determination, seeking a way to re-enter the match; however, the home team's strategy was to deliberately reduce the tempo of the game.

In response, the visitors attempted to implement a high pressing tactic to regain possession, but this inadvertently allowed Cerny to find space on the right wing. He advanced into the penalty area and skillfully cut back onto his left foot, placing the ball past Târnovanu to secure Rangers' third goal.

Rangers extended their lead to four when Connor Barron intercepted the ball in the visitors' half. Hamza Igamane seized the opportunity, maneuvering through the FCSB defense with impressive dribbling before striking a low shot into the bottom left corner, marking his first goal for Rangers.

Despite the hosts' relentless pursuit of additional goals until the final whistle, they ultimately concluded the match with a decisive four-goal victory, thereby ending FCSB's flawless start to the league phase.
