Real Betis 1-1 Real Madrid: Bellingham scores but league leaders are held to stalemate

Betis supporters were filled with optimism as they prepared to face league leaders Real Madrid, having triumphed in their last four LaLiga home matches. The hosts' hopes of remaining unbeaten were further bolstered by their recent trend of low-scoring games, which had only produced four goals in four matches, as well as their goalless draw against Los Blancos last season.

Despite a strong performance in the first half, with Ayoze Perez testing Andriy Lunin with a shot on goal, it was clear that Real Madrid were the dominant side, even though they failed to create clear-cut chances before halftime.

Isco, a former Madrid player, also forced Lunin into making a save with a sliding effort at the near post. However, within ten minutes of the second half, Carlo Ancelotti's team took the lead.

Brahim Diaz delivered a perfectly lofted pass, which was expertly controlled by LaLiga's top scorer, Jude Bellingham. Bellingham calmly chested the ball down and slotted it through Rui Silva's legs to put Real Madrid in front.

Ancelotti had never seen his side concede in an away match against Betis, but with less than 25 minutes remaining, full-back Aitor Ruibal unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Lunin's outstretched glove, leveling the scores.

Isco came agonizingly close to securing all three points for the hosts when his shot hit the post, while Joselu's effort for Real Madrid narrowly missed the target at the other end.

Ultimately, the match ended in a draw, with Betis maintaining their unbeaten home record in the league this season (W5, D3) and extending their unbeaten run to 11 league games (W4, D7).

On the other hand, Real Madrid's run of three consecutive LaLiga victories came to an end, giving Girona the opportunity to reclaim the top spot when they face Barcelona on Sunday.
