Real Betis 2-4 Barcelona: Torres hat-trick helps Barca survive Isco-inspired Betis comeback to steal thriller

Barcelona successfully held off a determined Real Betis resurgence to secure a thrilling 4-2 triumph in the dying moments of the match, making them the inaugural team to claim an away victory against Real Betis in La Liga this season.

Barcelona boss Xavi faced mounting pressure as his team sought a crucial victory against an undefeated Betis side at home in LaLiga this season.

In the early minutes of the game, the hosts came close to scoring the opening goal when Isco skillfully carried the ball forward and set up Luiz Henrique. However, the Brazilian's attempt went over the net, hitting the roof.

Barca gradually took control of the match, and just like Betis' missed opportunity, Frenkie de Jong found Pedri, but the Spaniard couldn't keep his looping shot on target.

With a dominant possession of over 75%, the Blaugrana started to pose a greater threat, and it was only a matter of time before they broke the deadlock. Ilkay Gundogan's pass deflected into the path of Pedri, who then provided a simple tap-in for Ferran Torres.

The opening goal injected confidence into the Barcelona players, and they pushed for a second before halftime. However, Lamine Yamal's composed shot from the right was denied by the woodwork as it struck the post. Additionally, a goal from Robert Lewandowski was disallowed due to an offside, keeping Betis' deficit at one.

Shortly after the restart, Barca swiftly doubled their lead. Once again, Torres played a role as Yamal's cross hit the post, but the rebound fell kindly to the Spaniard, allowing him to score his second goal of the night.

Xavi's team appeared to have a comfortable advantage with a two-goal lead. However, Betis quickly turned the tables with two impressive goals from Isco within a short span of three minutes.

The first goal was a powerful strike into the top of the net, followed by a well-placed finish by Isco after Borja Iglesias failed to connect with Henrique's cross.

With the score level, both teams had an equal chance of securing victory as the match entered the final half-hour. Ultimately, it was Joao Felix who stole the spotlight with a moment of individual brilliance in the 90th minute, using the outside of his boot to punish Betis.

As the hosts desperately sought an equalizer in stoppage time, they were caught off guard on the counter-attack, allowing Torres to complete his hat-trick and solidify his team's position in the top-four.

Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini's Betis find themselves trailing by four points in the race for European qualification, having only managed one win in their last seven league matches.
