Real Madrid 3-0 Cadiz: Los Blancos edge close to 36th league title with comfortable victory

Real Madrid are on the verge of securing their 36th LaLiga title, needing just one more favorable result. In their recent match against relegation-threatened Cádiz, Brahim Díaz showcased his skills, leading Real Madrid to a convincing 3-0 victory. This defeat for Cádiz marks their 22nd consecutive away trip without a win.

Carlo Ancelotti made several changes to the lineup, considering the match's position between Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League semi-final legs against Bayern Munich. As a result, the first half-hour was comfortable yet unconvincing for Real Madrid.

Éder Militão's long-range shot was the only notable chance, but it posed little trouble for Conan Ledesma. On the other end, Chris Ramos failed to convert Joseba Zaldúa's cross after a breakaway by the right-back.

Although Real Madrid dominated possession in the first half, Cádiz's desperate need to make up five points for safety motivated them to focus on counterattacking play. Rubén Sobrino had a chance to break away but couldn't overcome the last defender, Nacho Fernández.

To find an example of Real Madrid losing at home and Cádiz winning on the road, one would have to go back to April 2023 when both events occurred in the same weekend. However, the first half of this match didn't reflect that history, as both teams were evenly matched.

Real Madrid had a scare just after halftime when Ramos capitalized on a Militão error, but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a crucial save to deny him in a one-on-one situation.

This save ignited the Santiago Bernabéu crowd, and their support quickly inspired the players on the field. Luka Modrić set up Brahim, who unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner from outside the box.

From that point on, Real Madrid dominated the game, and their lead was soon doubled when Brahim turned provider for Jude Bellingham, who calmly beat Ledesma shortly after coming on as a substitute.

Mauricio Pellegrino's team narrowly avoided conceding a third goal when Ledesma blocked Militão's header after an impressive Rabona cross from Vinícius Júnior. However, they couldn't hold on and eventually conceded in stoppage time when Nacho outpaced Fali and set up Joselu for an easy tap-in.

Cádiz will anxiously await Celta Vigo's outcome tomorrow as their time in La Liga seems to be coming to an end.

Real Madrid will keep an eye on other matches as well. Even if Barcelona win and delay their title celebration, they are confident they can secure the championship when they face Granada, who are currently in 19th place, next weekend.
