Real Madrid 5-0 Alaves: Vinicius Jr at the double as Champions rout visitors

Real Madrid, the champions, extended their celebratory end to the season with a convincing 5-0 victory over in-form Deportivo Alavés at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, maintaining their unbeaten streak of 30 matches in LaLiga.

Leading the team, Captain Nacho proudly carried the La Liga trophy through a guard of honor.

However, any notion that Alavés were mere spectators for the celebrations was quickly dismissed in the second minute when Samu Omorodion forced Thibaut Courtois into a save, leaving the Real Madrid goalkeeper scrambling at his near post.

Nonetheless, in the 10th minute, Real Madrid showcased their class and took the lead. Toni Kroos expertly curled a cross to the back post, where Jude Bellingham met it with a delightful side-foot volley. The ball sailed over goalkeeper Jesús Owono and found the back of the net off the opposite post.

Following the beautiful opening goal, Real Madrid effortlessly added a second 15 minutes later. Bellingham played a precise through ball to Edouardo Camavinga, who had plenty of time to square it to Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian forward calmly tapped the ball home from six yards out.

Ianis Hagi's powerful strike from 25 yards forced Courtois into a full-stretch dive, but on the stroke of halftime, Los Blancos all but extinguished any hopes of a comeback for the visitors.

Bellingham found Federico Valverde on the corner of the area, and the Uruguayan midfielder rifled a strike past Owono, beating the goalkeeper at his near post.

Alavés, aiming for their first top-half finish in La Liga in seven years, continued to demonstrate their recent form with testing shots from Hagi and Omorodion in the second half.

At the opposite end, Owono made a good save from Vinícius, but the Brazilian was not going to be denied a second goal for much longer. With 20 minutes remaining, Bellingham once again unlocked the Babazorros’ defense, allowing Vinícius to score his 15th goal of the league season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team may be heading towards another UEFA Champions League final, but they showed no signs of slowing down in this match. With 10 minutes left, Rodrygo made a powerful run and his shot deflected to Arda Güler, who scored the fifth goal.

The victory keeps Real Madrid on track for an undefeated home league season, as they have now gone over a year without a home defeat. On the other hand, Alavés have suffered four away defeats in their last five matches.
