Real Valladolid 0-3 Real Madrid: Mbappe nets hat-trick as Los Blancos cruise past Valladolid

Kylian Mbappe notched his first hat-trick for Real Madrid, leading the LaLiga champions to a commanding 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Real Valladolid on Saturday. The win further solidified Real's position at the top of the standings.

The scoring began in the 30th minute when Mbappe combined beautifully with Jude Bellingham. The Frenchman broke the offside trap, collecting Bellingham’s pass before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Karl Hein.

In the 56th minute, Mbappe doubled the lead during a swift counterattack, racing down the left after a precise pass from Rodrygo and curling a low shot into the far corner.

He completed his hat-trick in added time, converting from the penalty spot after Mario Martin was sent off for a reckless challenge on Bellingham inside the box.

Real Madrid now sit atop the LaLiga table with 49 points, four clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Villarreal earlier on Saturday. Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao remain level on 39 points, both with a game in hand.

"Happy for the hat-trick but more for the win, I say it every week but it was important to win today after Atletico's draw," Mbappe told Real Madrid TV. "We had to play well, we scored the first goal in a collective action. In the second half we could have played better, but we scored the second, managed well, and scored the third."

Despite dominating possession with nearly 70% of the ball, Real Madrid only managed four shots on target in what was far from their most polished performance under Carlo Ancelotti. Missing Vinicius Jr, who was suspended following a red card against Valencia, Real relied heavily on Mbappe to deliver on a chilly evening.

After a slow start to his tenure in Madrid, Mbappe has hit a purple patch, tallying 15 LaLiga goals and 21 across all competitions in the past two months. Following his brace against Las Palmas last week and Saturday’s hat-trick, Mbappe now sits just one goal shy of Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski in the race for the Pichichi Trophy.
