Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning champion, has withdrawn from the Barcelona Open due to a right arm injury.
This injury also caused him to miss the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this week. The tournament organizers of the ATP 500 event announced this on Sunday.
Alcaraz, who is currently ranked third in the world, won the Barcelona Open in both 2022 and 2023. He has already claimed one title this year at Indian Wells in March.
Despite his efforts to recover, Alcaraz did not feel confident during his training on Sunday, leading to his decision to withdraw from the tournament.
The main draw of the Barcelona Open will commence on Monday and will conclude on the following Sunday.
