Rigobert Song leaves role as Cameroon coach after contract expires

Officials have confirmed that the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) will not be extending coach Rigobert Song's contract, which came to an end on Wednesday. This decision marks the conclusion of his two-year tenure at the helm.

Cameroon's former player, Song, who achieved an impressive record of 137 caps for his national team, successfully led them to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

They showcased their strength against Brazil but unfortunately, they did not advance past the first round.

In the recent Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon could only reach the last-16 stage in Ivory Coast, where they were defeated by Nigeria, who eventually became the finalists.

However, the Cameroon Football Federation's Executive Committee has decided to terminate the contract of the entire coaching staff for the Senior Men's National Team, including Song.

Fecafoot has stated that the recruitment process for a new coaching staff for the Indomitable Lions will be disclosed in the coming days.
