Roki Sasaki set to join Los Angeles Dodgers in MLB

Japanese pitching prodigy Roki Sasaki announced on Friday that he has agreed to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, the reigning World Series champions, marking a major step in his career.

Sasaki, renowned for his blazing fastball that often reaches 100 mph and a splitter that leaves hitters puzzled, has been a standout in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) with the Chiba Lotte Marines. Over four seasons, the 23-year-old has posted an impressive record of 29-15 with a 2.10 ERA and 505 strikeouts.

In an Instagram post, Sasaki revealed the move had been a "very difficult decision," adding, “I will do my best so that when I look back on it after my baseball career ends, I will think it was the right decision.”

While the Dodgers have yet to officially confirm the signing, Sasaki’s move to Major League Baseball is a major development. The Dodgers, along with the Toronto Blue Jays and San Diego Padres, were among the final teams vying for his signature after 20 teams initially made offers in December.

Sasaki will join fellow Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto at the Dodgers, further strengthening the team's pitching roster.
