Rune mounts stunning comeback against Humbert to book last 16 clash with Tsitsipas

Holger Rune executed a remarkable comeback against Ugo Humbert, securing his place in the last 16 of the ATP 1000 tournament in Indian Wells with a victory of 5-7, 6-4, 7-5 over the 18th-seeded French player.
Originally scheduled to take place in one of the smaller venues, the match was relocated to the main court, where both Rune and Humbert delivered an exceptional performance on a grand stage. Rune showcased his finest tennis during the critical moments of the contest.
In their previous three encounters, Rune had not dropped a set to Humbert; however, from the outset, Humbert demonstrated a strong desire to alter that trend, dominating the baseline exchanges against a somewhat passive Rune, whose endurance only sporadically forced errors from the Frenchman.
Rune faced challenges with his serve at the beginning of the match but managed to hold serve throughout the first set. He squandered two break point opportunities at 5-5, allowing Humbert to capitalize on his seventh break point to clinch the set 7-5.
Entering the second set, Rune displayed a markedly different level of authority, quickly establishing a 3-0 lead by winning all points during Humbert's service games.
Although Humbert managed to narrow the gap to 2-3, both players maintained their serves, and Rune ultimately leveled the match by taking the second set 6-4.
The third set saw both competitors performing at their peak, exhibiting outstanding tennis. However, there was a palpable sense that Rune could elevate his game, which he did by breaking Humbert's serve at 5-5 and subsequently closing out the match with precision.
In the upcoming round, Rune will face the formidable Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is currently ranked ninth in the world.
