Salah eclipses Lampard, Rooney and Shearer to set Premier League record

Mohamed Salah's remarkable performance in the second half of Liverpool's 2-0 triumph over Ipswich Town has enabled the Egyptian forward to establish a new Premier League record.
Following a scoreless first half at Portman Road, Salah assisted Diogo Jota in scoring the opening goal for the Reds in the 60th minute before netting a goal himself, successfully overcoming goalkeeper Christian Walton.
With this goal, Salah has now achieved the distinction of being the most prolific opening-day goalscorer in Premier League history, amassing a total of nine goals.
Additionally, the former Chelsea and Roma player has set a record for the highest number of goal involvements in a season opener, totaling 14.
Before this match, he was level with football legends Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer, and Wayne Rooney, each having scored eight goals. Notably, this match marked Salah's 350th appearance for Liverpool across all competitions since his transfer from Serie A in 2017.
In a commendable display, Salah recorded three shots on target, delivered one cross, made two key passes, completed 33 passes, and achieved a passing accuracy of 75.8%.
Defensively, the 32-year-old committed three fouls and was fortunate not to receive a booking from referee Tim Robinson.
As a result of this victory, Liverpool maintains an impressive record against Ipswich, having never lost a league match at Portman Road, with three wins and two draws, the last encounter resulting in a 6-0 victory in February 2002.
Conversely, Ipswich's unbeaten streak in their opening league match has come to an end, having remained undefeated in the first match of the season for the past ten years (W6 D4) since their 2-1 loss to Reading in the Championship during the 2013-14 season.
Salah will aim to extend his scoring streak when Liverpool faces Brentford on August 25.
