Sasha Vezenkov shines as EuroLeague Round 3 MVP

Sasha Vezenkov was in unstoppable form as he powered Olympiacos Piraeus to a commanding 86–67 win over Dubai Basketball, earning the EuroLeague Round 3 MVP title with an impressive Performance Index Rating (PIR) of 34.

This marks Vezenkov’s 15th career MVP round, placing him among the EuroLeague’s elite. Only Shane Larkin (19) and Nando De Colo (16) sit ahead of the Bulgarian forward on the all-time list.

Vezenkov’s performance was a masterclass in efficiency and control. He tallied 25 points on sharp shooting, hitting 6 of 8 from two-point range, 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and 4 of 6 from the line — while adding 11 rebounds, one assist, and one block. After the game, he reflected on his impact: “I tried to influence the game in every way possible. It’s about doing whatever helps the team win.”

Moneke and Punter impress in Round 3 thrillers

Vezenkov’s standout performance didn’t come without competition. Chima Moneke of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet and Kevin Punter of Barcelona both came close, finishing with a PIR of 31 each.

Moneke posted 20 points, 12 rebounds, and four key defensive actions to drive Zvezda’s hard-fought 86–81 win at Fenerbahce. Meanwhile, Punter was instrumental in Barcelona’s 108–102 victory over Valencia, dropping 27 points and seven assists in an offensive showcase. Other top performers included Isaia Cordinier (Efes) with a PIR of 30 and Tyrique Jones (Partizan) with 28, both continuing their solid early-season form.

Nunn steals the spotlight with buzzer-beater

In another highlight from Round 3, Panathinaikos guard Kendrick Nunn led all scorers with 30 points, capped by a dramatic buzzer-beater against Baskonia. Moneke also led all rebounders with 12 boards, though Nikola Milutinovremains the season leader, averaging 11.3 rebounds per game.

Wade Baldwin and Sergio De Larrea dished out eight assists each, while Nadir Hifi collected four steals. Donta Hall protected the paint with three blocks to top that category.

Double-doubles define the round

Six players recorded double-doubles this round: Vezenkov, Moneke, Milutinov, Juancho Hernangomez, Daniel Theis, and Tadas Sedekerskis, showcasing the high level of all-round play seen across the EuroLeague this week.

As Olympiacos continue their strong start to the season, Vezenkov’s return to peak form is a major boost. With his 15th MVP honor now secured, the forward is once again proving why he remains one of Europe’s most complete and impactful players.
