Sassuolo 1-6 Napoli: Victor Osimhen smashes hat-trick as Gli Azzurri put hosts to the sword

Napoli bounced back from their recent struggles on the road with an impressive 6-1 victory over Sassuolo, thanks to an outstanding hat-trick by Victor Osimhen.

The Neroverdi had been unsuccessful in scoring in their last three Serie A matches against Napoli. However, in their recent game, it took them less than 16 minutes to break the streak. Hamed Traorè's clearance led to Uroš Račić scoring a remarkable goal from 20 yards out, marking his first goal for the club.

Despite their early lead, the home team had only won two out of their previous 21 Serie A encounters with Napoli, which seemed to affect their performance. Napoli took advantage of this, turning the game around after the hosts began to retreat.

Napoli's attack came alive shortly before the half-hour mark, with Matteo Politano setting up André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, who then assisted Amir Rrahmani for the equalizer. Just two minutes later, Napoli took the lead with another impressive move, resulting in Osimhen scoring.

Osimhen's future at Napoli beyond this season seems uncertain, considering the difficulties they have faced in defending their Scudetto. However, he has proven to be a valuable asset to the team, especially in their pursuit of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

During the match, Osimhen showcased his goal-scoring prowess once again. Just before halftime, he capitalized on Politano's well-executed pass, finding the back of the net and extending Napoli's lead to 3-1.

In the second half, Sassuolo made a costly mistake by attempting to play out from the back, leading to Osimhen's third goal of the game. Ruan Tressoldi's misplaced pass fell into the hands of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who set up Osimhen for an easy finish.

Not content with his hat-trick, Kvaratskhelia added insult to injury for Sassuolo by scoring two goals of his own. The first was a brilliant solo run, culminating in a precise finish into the far corner. He then struck again from just inside the 18-yard box, securing Napoli's sixth goal of the night.

Overall, it was an outstanding performance from Napoli, who secured their first away victory in Serie A since November. On the other hand, Sassuolo's relegation battle became even more challenging, as their goal difference suffered a blow in their quest to avoid demotion.
