Scaloni says balance is key in deciding who starts up front

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni emphasized his approach of taking each game into consideration when deciding the starting lineup for the Copa América.

In the competition for the position of second striker alongside Lionel Messi, Scaloni has chosen Julian Alvarez over Lautaro Martinez for the past two matches.

With Messi being the team's key player, there is significant competition within the squad for the role of second striker.

Scaloni has opted to start Alvarez in the victories against Canada and Chile, while Martinez has come off the bench in the second half of both games.

Alvarez has scored one goal so far, while Martinez has netted twice, including a late winner against Chile.

Scaloni explained that he selects the player he believes is best suited for each match, considering the need for balance.

He also mentioned that he prefers playing with a good structure and will continue to make choices throughout the tournament based on the opponent.

Scaloni further stated that securing qualification for the knockout stages early would provide an opportunity to experiment with the lineup in the final group stage match against Peru.

When asked about winger Alejandro Garnacho, Scaloni expressed the desire to see him play due to his youth and freshness.

However, he acknowledged that the decision to bring him on depends on the evolving nature of the match and the suitability of the situation.

Scaloni hopes that when given the opportunity, young players like Garnacho will be able to make the most of it.
