Scottie Scheffler voted PGA Tour Player of the Year for second consecutive year

During the 2022-23 season, Scheffler, the top-ranked player in the world, emerged victorious in the Phoenix Open and The Players Championship, successfully defending his title in the former.
In a vote conducted by players for the Jack Nicklaus Award, Scheffler triumphed over Wyndham Clark (30), Viktor Hovland (26), Rory McIlroy (34), and Jon Rahm (29). The PGA Tour announced that Scheffler secured 38% of the vote.
Expressing his gratitude, Scheffler stated, "Receiving recognition from your peers is truly special, and winning this trophy for two consecutive years holds great significance to me.
I am honored to take it home once again." Scheffler shared these sentiments ahead of the season-opening event at Kapalua in Hawaii.
Scheffler's remarkable consistency and impressive performances throughout the previous year contributed to his achievement.
With 13 top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishes in 23 starts, he set a new standard on the PGA Tour since 2005, surpassing the records set by Vijay Singh and Woods.
Furthermore, Scheffler shattered the PGA Tour's official money earned record in a single season, amassing a staggering $21 million.
This surpassed his own record of $14 million from the previous season. Additionally, he claimed the Byron Nelson Award for achieving the lowest scoring average (68.63) on the Tour.
Joining an elite group of players, Scheffler became only the fourth golfer to win the Jack Nicklaus Award in consecutive seasons.
The esteemed company includes Fred Couples (1991, 1992), Nick Price (1993, 1994), and Woods (1999-2003, 2005-2007).
In recognition of his outstanding performance as a rookie, American Eric Cole (35) was honored with the Arnold Palmer Award as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year.
Cole, the sole rookie to qualify for the BMW Championship, outshined Ludvig Aberg (24) and Vincent Norrman (26) of Sweden, as well as Colombian Nico Echavarria (29), to claim the award.
Notably, Cole became the second-oldest player to receive this prestigious accolade.
