Seahawks edge out Bears in one of NFL season's lowest-scoring games

Jason Myers, aged 33, successfully converted two field goals, which proved sufficient for the Seattle Seahawks to secure a narrow 6-3 victory over the Chicago Bears in a game characterized by strong defensive performances on Thursday, thereby enhancing their playoff aspirations.

The Seahawks' Riq Woolen clinched the win by intercepting a desperate fourth-down pass from Chicago's Caleb Williams with just 11 seconds left on the clock. The match featured a total of 13 punts from both teams and only two red zone attempts, one from each side. Following the game, the phrase "Worst NFL" began to trend on social media platform X.

With this victory, Seattle improved its record to 9-7, placing them second in the NFC West division, trailing the Los Angeles Rams (9-6). The Rams are set to host the Seahawks on January 5th in a crucial season finale that could determine a playoff berth.

The Rams, who will face the Arizona Cardinals (7-8) on Saturday, can secure the division title with a win, provided they also receive favorable outcomes from at least three other games involving Buffalo, Minnesota, Cleveland, San Francisco, Cincinnati, and Washington.

This scenario would allow the Rams to clinch the division title and a playoff spot based on a "strength of schedule" tiebreaker advantage over Seattle.

Myers opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal, giving Seattle an early 3-0 advantage. However, the Bears responded with a 42-yard field goal from Cairo Santos, leveling the score with 2:32 left in the second quarter.

Myers then added a 50-yard field goal just before halftime, putting the Seahawks ahead 6-3, a lead they maintained until the final whistle.

In the closing moments, Chicago attempted a final drive, which was kept alive by a 14-yard completion from a scrambling Williams to D.J. Moore on fourth down. However, three consecutive incompletions culminated in the interception that sealed the Bears' defeat, dropping their record to 4-12.

"The defense was tremendous," remarked Seattle quarterback Geno Smith. "It was a hard-fought game. Our defense was outstanding. They made the big play at the end. They played exceptionally well."

Prior to the game, the Seahawks placed their leading rusher, Kenneth Walker, on injured reserve due to an ankle injury sustained during a loss to Minnesota the previous Sunday.
