Sevilla 2-1 Real Valladolid: Ejuke scores late winner to secure much needed win for hosts

Chidera Ejuke scored his first La Liga goal, leading Sevilla to a vital 2-1 triumph over Real Valladolid at the Ramon Sánchez Pizjuan.

Following a challenging start, with only one victory in his first six matches as Sevilla's manager, Garcia Pimienta recognized the necessity of securing a win to ease the mounting pressure on him.

His spirits were lifted when Saul Niguez unleashed an early shot that narrowly missed Karl Hein’s crossbar.

Opportunities in the first half were scarce after Saul's initial attempt, as Valladolid effectively stifled Sevilla's efforts. Nevertheless, Sevilla's determination bore fruit just before halftime when Dodi Lukebakio's driven cross was inadvertently turned in by Peque and Valladolid defender David Torres.

In stark contrast to their strong finish to the first half, Sevilla faced a troubling start to the second half when Saul was stretchered off, shortly before Kike Perez equalized for Valladolid.

In his final contribution before being substituted, Kike connected with Mario Martin’s precise cut-back and skillfully guided his deflected shot past Orjan Nyland.

Reeling from the equalizer by their newly promoted rivals, Sevilla quickly sought to regain the lead, with Ejuke forcing a significant save from Karl Hein to his left. The Arsenal loanee was called upon again to deny Peque, making a crucial stop with his left knee.

Regrettably for Hein, he was unable to prevent Ejuke from scoring the decisive goal. The substitute capitalized on a misplaced pass from Valladolid, executing a precise shot into the bottom corner to secure his first goal for Sevilla.

In the closing moments, Marcao received a second yellow card for a deliberate foul, yet the hosts managed to maintain their composure and secure their second victory of the season. Meanwhile, the visitors have now gone six matches without a win, leaving them in the relegation zone.
