Shakur Stevenson secured the WBC lightweight world championship

On Thursday night, Shakur Stevenson secured the WBC lightweight world championship with a unanimous decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos, despite fans expressing disappointment with the overall lack of action in the bout.
Stevenson, with a record of 21-0 and 10 KOs, achieved this triumph in a third weight class, as reflected in the judges' scores of 116-112 on two cards and 115-113 on the other.
Throughout the match, De Los Santos (16-2) managed to keep Stevenson on the defensive, frequently forcing him backward. However, De Los Santos struggled to capitalize on opportunities, often chasing and missing his targets.
Despite the criticism, Stevenson closed as a considerable favorite at minus-1450 on FanDuel, indicating a substantial wager of $1,450 would be necessary to win $100.
In the co-main event, Mexico's Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs), the WBO junior lightweight champion, and Brazil's Robson Conceição (17-2-2, 8 KOs) fought to a majority draw.
Navarrete knocked Conceição down twice during the match, but the challenger's resilience in the later rounds contributed to the draw.
Judges Max De Luca and Chris Flores scored it 113-113, while Don Trella favored Navarrete with a 114-112 score. Conceição expressed a desire for a rematch.
Earlier in the evening, Emiliano Vargas (8-0, 7 KOs), son of former two-time light middleweight champion Fernando Vargas, maintained his undefeated record with a second-round knockout of Brandon Mendoza (6-3).
Vargas dropped Mendoza twice in the first round and concluded the fight with two powerful right hands, prompting referee Harvey Dock to stop the contest just 57 seconds into the second round.
