Sheffield United 0-5 Brighton: Adingra bags brace as Seagulls thrash struggling Blades

Brighton revived their hopes of qualifying for Europe with a resounding 5-0 triumph over a 10-man Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. This remarkable victory marked their first-ever win against the Blades in the Premier League after five previous unsuccessful attempts.
The Blades had been undefeated in their last seven league encounters with Brighton before entering the clash. The first opportunity of the game came when Jayden Bogle's shot was saved by Bart Verbruggen.
Simon Adingra, fresh from his Africa Cup of Nations triumph with the Ivory Coast, was causing trouble down the right wing. Anel Ahmedhodzic almost scored an own goal from his cross, but Wes Foderingham prevented the mishap.
Chris Wilder had hoped his team would contain the Seagulls, but Mason Holgate's reckless challenge ruined those plans. The tackle on Kaoru Mitoma was initially a yellow card but was changed to a red card after a VAR review.
The challenge became even more difficult when Facundo Buonanotte scored his third Premier League goal of the season. He redirected the ball into the net from close range after Lewis Dunk headed Pascal Gross's corner back across the six-yard box.
Danny Welbeck then doubled Roberto De Zerbi's team's lead by being the first to react to Foderingham's save from Mitoma's shot off another Gross delivery.
Wilder's squad was still competitive in the game after the hour mark, as the Seagulls brought in Evan Ferguson to secure the win, replacing Buonanotte.
The 19-year-old was determined to break his goal drought of 14 games across all competitions and almost succeeded with a header from a Gross corner, which was saved by Foderingham.
Sheffield United's chances of a comeback were dashed when Jack Robinson scored an own goal from Mitoma's cross, marking his 300th career appearance.
Adingra then scored a well-deserved fourth goal with a first-time finish from Gross's delivery, and added a second with a deflected shot that beat Foderingham.
This victory put an end to De Zerbi's team's frustrating streak of six winless away games in the Premier League, moving them up to seventh in the standings by surpassing Newcastle and West Ham, who both dropped points the day before.
On the other hand, Sheffield United's loss means they have not won any of their first four home games in a calendar year since 2011, leaving them at the bottom of the table with only 13 points from 25 matches.
