Shericka Jackson completes sprint double at Jamaican Olympic trials

Shericka Jackson secured victory in the women's 200 meters at the Jamaican Olympic trials, finishing in 22.29 seconds. Lanae-Tava Thomas came in second with a time of 22.34, while Niesha Burgher finished third in 22.39.
"I am delighted with my performance, especially considering how the season has been going. I achieved a season best yesterday and followed it up with another season best today, so I am definitely pleased," said Jackson, the Tokyo Olympics 100m bronze medalist in a statement to Reuters.
"I am in good health and spirits, so I am fully focused on the Olympics."
Ackera Nugent set a national record of 12.28 in the 100 hurdles, beating Danielle Williams (12.53) and Janeek Brown (12.61) who finished second and third, respectively.
Nugent emphasized the importance of controlling her speed between hurdles during the trials.
"I have been working on this aspect diligently, and it has been a key focus for me. I believed in my capabilities and trusted the process, which ultimately paid off," Nugent stated.
Nugent's record time was short-lived as Masai Russell posted 12.25 at the US Olympics trials in Eugene, Oregon, taking the world-leading mark.
Acknowledging the tough competition ahead, Nugent expressed her determination to focus on her own performance.
"I am aware of the exceptional athletes out there, but my focus is on my own journey. This being my first full year as a professional, I am making necessary adjustments for better performances," Nugent added.
In the men's 110 hurdles, a photo finish determined Commonwealth Games champion Rasheed Broadbell as the winner in 13.18 seconds, narrowly beating Orlando Bennett by five-thousandths of a second. Defending Olympic Champion Hansle Parchment finished third in 13.19.
Bryan Levell clinched victory in the men's 200m with a personal best time of 19.97, followed by Andrew Hudson in 20.02 and Javari Thomas in 20.32.
