Simeone praises newcomers for role in Atletico Madrid's win streak

Atletico Madrid's recent success can be attributed to the effective integration of their summer acquisitions, as stated by coach Diego Simeone following his team's 5-0 victory over Real Valladolid, marking their seventh consecutive win in all competitions.

Earlier in the season, Atletico experienced a challenging period, securing only one victory in six matches despite investing over 200 million euros ($211.50 million) to enhance the squad with players such as Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher, and Robin Le Normand after a season without trophies.

A month has passed since their last defeat, a 1-0 loss to Real Betis, and Simeone is optimistic about his team's progress and strategic approach.

"Every team requires time. A month and a half or two months ago, we discussed the necessity for the new players to acclimate to our style of play, as they came from different systems in their previous clubs," Simeone remarked during a press conference.

"The development of (Clement) Lenglet, Gallagher, Julian, (Alexander) Sorloth, and the anticipated return of Le Normand is contributing to our collective performance.

"We suffered a disappointing defeat against Betis, where we were unrecognizable. I believe that match served as a turning point for our subsequent performances. Regardless of the outcome, we must maintain our identity."

Simeone commended both the defensive and offensive aspects of his team, expressing hope that they can sustain their momentum as they prepare for the Copa del Rey, where they will face Cacereno in the second round on Thursday.

"Our defensive performance has been strong, providing us with an advantage, while our offensive strategy offers various attacking options, including speed, inside play, aerial threats, and counter-attacks. We must continue this trajectory," he stated.

"The league season is lengthy, and we are eager for the Cup match, which will be challenging, as all single-elimination games are. It is essential that we uphold the humility and dedication demonstrated by the players."
