Siniakova and Townsend claim women's doubles title at Wimbledon in 10th match together

In the dimness of the rest of the All-England Club after a lengthy day, Townsend and Siniakova sparkled under the bright lights of the Centre Court roof, securing a 7-6(5) 7-6(1) victory in just their 10th match as a pair.
Having previously lost in the US Open doubles final in 2022 and last year's French Open doubles final, Townsend finally found success alongside Siniakova, who now boasts nine doubles Slams.
Hailing from Chicago, Townsend, who became a mother in 2021, was overwhelmed with emotion when a double fault from their opponents concluded a closely contested match.
"I am truly grateful to have teamed up with Katerina," Townsend expressed on the court.
"I recall in my first Grand Slam final (the 2022 US Open) she outplayed me, so it was wonderful to be on the same side of the net this time. It has been an incredible couple of weeks, and it holds great significance to cross the finish line."
Routliffe, who, alongside Dabrowski, secured the US Open doubles title last year, will find solace in achieving the number-one position in the women's doubles rankings.
"This marked my first Wimbledon final, but hopefully not my last," Routliffe remarked on the court.
"There is something about Wimbledon that intensifies the emotions in every match."
Siniakova clinched her first two Wimbledon doubles titles with Barbora Krejcikova, who earlier on Centre Court defeated Jasmine Paolini to claim the singles title.
"I am immensely proud of Barbora, and I am thrilled that we could achieve this as well," Siniakova expressed.
