Sinner helps Italy secure Semi-final spot in Davis Cup Finals

Jannik Sinner, at the age of 22, spoke about embracing the pressure of the Davis Cup Finals as he played a pivotal role in Italy's 2-1 victory over the Netherlands, securing a spot in the semi-finals for the second consecutive year. After arriving in Malaga following a loss in the ATP Finals title clash against Novak Djokovic, Sinner faced Tallon Griekspoor to level the tie at 1-1. Later, he joined forces with Lorenzo Sonego, despite not having played together since their defeat at Indian Wells in March, to defeat Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof in the doubles match.

Despite being a late addition to the doubles, Sinner, currently ranked fourth in the world, expressed that pressure is a privilege and acknowledged the unique responsibility of representing his country in the Davis Cup. Reflecting on his performance, he noted the challenges faced on the first day but emphasized the positive energy gained from participating in a team event as the year's final competition.

Italy, aiming for their second title in the Davis Cup, last achieved the feat in 1976. Sinner exuded confidence in the team's approach, describing them as a united "big family" giving their utmost effort for the country. In his view, the collective commitment of each player to give 100% increases their chances of success in the prestigious men's team competition.
