Six Kings Slam: Sinner dominates Tsitsipas as Djokovic awaits, Fritz books Alcaraz clash in Riyadh

The Six Kings Slam got off to a flying start in Riyadh, with Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz cruising into the semi-finals after dominant opening-night performances. Both men are now set for blockbuster matchups, Sinner vs Novak Djokovic and Fritz vs Carlos Alcaraz, in what promises to be a thrilling weekend of elite exhibition tennis in Saudi Arabia.

The exclusive event, featuring six of the sport’s biggest stars, offers record-breaking prize money, reportedly exceeding that of a Grand Slam, and has already lived up to its hype with star-studded showdowns under the desert lights.

Sinner sweeps Tsitsipas aside

Jannik Sinner barely broke a sweat in his 6-2, 6-2 dismantling of Stefanos Tsitsipas, needing just over an hour to book his spot in the semi-finals. The Italian, who has been one of the most consistent players on tour this season, came out firing, breaking Tsitsipas early and dictating the tempo with clean, deep hitting and razor-sharp footwork.

Tsitsipas showed flashes of resistance midway through the first set, but Sinner’s relentless pressure and precision off both wings kept him on the back foot. The world number four sealed the opening set in 36 minutes and immediately broke serve at the start of the second, racing to a 3-0 lead as Tsitsipas struggled to find rhythm on the slick Riyadh court.

Sinner’s dominance never wavered, finishing the match with an ace and a polite wave to the crowd. Speaking afterward, he was full of respect for his next opponent, Novak Djokovic, who awaits him in the semi-finals.

“We all hope it’s a good match. We’ve played many times and know each other very well,” Sinner said. “It’s great to share the court again with Novak, especially here. Mostly, we’re here to enjoy it and bring tennis to new fans — that’s what matters.”

Fritz outclasses Zverev again

In the night’s opening match, Taylor Fritz extended his winning streak over Alexander Zverev with a 6-3, 6-4 victory — his seventh straight over the German, albeit in unofficial play.

The American was in control from start to finish, serving with precision and confidence. He fired eight aces, saved all three break points he faced, and broke Zverev once in each set to close out a comfortable win in under 90 minutes.

Zverev served at an impressive 82% first-serve rate but couldn’t find his usual consistency under pressure. Fritz, meanwhile, dominated with clean baseline hitting and strong returns that kept the German constantly scrambling.

Fritz now moves on to face Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals, a matchup he knows will test him physically and mentally, even with the Spaniard carrying a minor injury. “It’s physical, it’s tough,” Fritz said after the win. “You always have to play your best against Carlos and fight to keep up with his level.”

What’s Next in Riyadh

With Sinner vs Djokovic and Fritz vs Alcaraz now confirmed, fans are in for two high-quality semi-finals that blend fierce competition with showmanship.

The Six Kings Slam continues to showcase tennis at its highest level, with a touch of spectacle, as the sport’s elite bring their rivalries and star power to the heart of Saudi Arabia.
