Snoop Dogg joins Swansea City as Co-Owner

Global rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially joined the ownership group of English Championship side Swansea City AFC, marking a bold crossover between music, entertainment, and football. The 53-year-old hip-hop legend, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., brings not only star power but also a social media audience of over 100 million fans to the South Wales club.

Swansea City, currently competing in the second tier of English football, announced the surprise move on Thursday after teasing fans with images of Snoop Dogg modeling the club’s new 2025–26 home kit earlier in the week. The announcement comes as part of a wider investment strategy following the club’s acquisition by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen in late 2024.

Snoop's involvement follows the recent announcement that Croatian midfield maestro and Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modrić, now 39, also holds a stake in the club after joining AC Milan. Together, they represent a renewed ambition for Swansea City to restore its Premier League status, which it lost in 2018.

“My love of football is well known,” Snoop said in an official club statement. “But it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.
The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I’m proud to be part of Swansea City.”

Celebrity Influence meets Football Ambition

This isn't the first time celebrity investment has shaken up lower-tier English football. Swansea’s Welsh rivals, Wrexham AFC, have soared through the leagues following the high-profile takeover by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. With Snoop Dogg’s backing, Swansea City may now be poised to follow a similar trajectory.

Club owners Cravatt and Cohen said the deal with Snoop Dogg marks “the next episode” in the club’s evolution, a nod to one of the rapper’s most iconic tracks. They emphasized that his global reach will be a key driver in increasing international exposure and attracting new commercial opportunities.

“Snoop’s colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that,” the club said in a joint statement. “He’s been passionate and involved throughout the process, and he’s made it clear that he wants to help us build a competitive team that reflects the city’s spirit.”

The timing of Snoop’s arrival is strategic. Swansea have struggled to make a serious promotion push since their Premier League relegation seven years ago. With tightened profit and sustainability regulations in place across English football, the club’s American-led ownership sees digital influence, brand building, and fan engagement as untapped resources for revenue generation and squad investment.

What's Next for Swansea?

Whether this celebrity partnership translates into success on the pitch remains to be seen, but the buzz is undeniable. With a new kit, fresh investment, and international star power in their corner, Swansea City will head into the 2025–26 Championship season with more eyes on them than ever before.

And if history is anything to go by, from Beckham’s MLS influence to Wrexham’s global renaissance, Snoop Dogg's presence could very well be the start of a new era in South Wales. For the Swans, the next episode has just begun.
