Spain Olympic squad packed with World Cup winners

Spain's head coach Montserrat Tome has heavily relied on the players who secured victory in the Women's World Cup last year, with the entire starting 11 from their win against England in Sydney making it to her 22-woman squad for the Paris Games.

The squad, announced by the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) on Wednesday, features key players such as 34-year-old top scorer Jennifer Hermoso, as well as Ballon d'Or winners Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmati.

Hermoso, Bonmati, and Ona Batlle were among the goal scorers in Spain's 3-0 triumph over the Netherlands in the Nations League semi-finals in February, which secured their first-ever Olympic qualification.

Spain has been placed in Group C alongside Japan, Nigeria, and Brazil in Paris. The women's football tournament is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 10.
