Spain thrash Andorra as Oyarzabal bags hat-trick

Attacking midfielder Mikel Oyarzabal came off the bench to score three goals in the second half, leading Spain to a 5-0 friendly victory over Andorra on Wednesday in their second-to-last warm-up match before Euro 2024.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente made significant changes to the squad, but they controlled the game from the beginning.

Former Newcastle United and Leicester City forward Ayoze Perez opened the scoring for the hosts in the 24th minute.

"It was a dream debut," Ayoze said. "To score a goal and provide an assist is fantastic, I'm thrilled. Every touch, every run I made, I focused on contributing to the team's success."

"I tried to make the most of every opportunity in training and during the match. Now it's the coach's decision to choose the best option for the team. It's a special chance. Negative thoughts will only divert you from your objective."

Real Sociedad's Oyarzabal, who came on as a substitute at halftime, increased Spain's lead with a goal in the 53rd minute, added a third on a swift counterattack in the 66th, and completed his hat-trick in the 73rd with a rebound from inside the box.

Ferran Torres sealed the victory with another goal on the counterattack eight minutes later.

Spain will face Northern Ireland on Saturday in their final warm-up match before kicking off their Euros campaign on June 15 against Croatia in Group B. They will also play against Italy and Albania.
