Brazilian footballer Dani Alves (40) has been granted conditional release from jail by a Barcelona court on Wednesday. He must pay a one million euro bail after serving a quarter of his four-and-a-half-year sentence for rape.
Alves is required to surrender both his Brazilian and Spanish passports, ensuring he remains in Spain, and must appear in court weekly. Additionally, a restraining order has been issued, preventing Alves from contacting the victim.
The decision was not unanimous, with one judge dissenting, and can be appealed. Alves' lawyer has not yet provided a comment.
