Spanish Football Federation headquarters searched in corruption probe

The prosecutor's office stated that on Wednesday, the Spanish police conducted a search at the Madrid headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption.

According to a report by Agencia EFE, the police have been conducting a search at the RFEF headquarters since this morning as part of an investigation into suspected irregular contracts over the past five years. EFE reports that several arrests have already been made as part of this search for evidence.

In addition, it has been discovered that arrests have also taken place at the Granada Football Federation, which may be directly linked to the ongoing events in Madrid. It is worth noting that Luis Rubiales, the former president of the RFEF, currently resides in Granada.

This operation involves searches and arrests taking place in various locations across Spain. The court leading the investigation is the same one that initiated the probe into the awarding of the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, a decision that was jointly made by Rubiales and former FC Barcelona player Gerard Pique.

As the operation unfolds, it is expected that more than a dozen searches and at least half a dozen arrests will be carried out. Various public and private entities will also be summoned as part of this process.

At present, three arrests have been confirmed in relation to the investigation into alleged crimes involving corruption in business, unfair administration, and money laundering. However, our sources indicate that there may be additional arrests in the near future.

The television show 'Al Rojo Vivo' on La Sexta has informed that the residence of Rubiales in Granada is currently undergoing a search. The UCO is asking for different documents and contracts related to the time frame being investigated.
