Spurs' Victor Wembanyama named NBA's Rookie of the Year in unanimous vote

Victor Wembanyama, the talented French player of the San Antonio Spurs, has been declared as the undisputed recipient of the NBA's Rookie of the Year accolade.
Throughout the season, he showcased his prowess by leading all rookies in scoring, rebounds, and blocks. As the first overall pick in the previous NBA Draft, Wembanyama maintained impressive averages of 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game.
The NBA disclosed that Wembanyama secured all 99 first-place votes from a panel of media members, marking him as the first rookie since Karl-Anthony Towns in the 2015/16 season to achieve a unanimous selection for the award.
Notably, Wembanyama has become the initial French player to clinch the NBA's Rookie of the Year title, following the footsteps of Spurs legends David Robinson (1989/90) and Tim Duncan (1997/98).
Furthermore, Wembanyama has etched his name in history as only the second rookie to lead all NBA players in blocks per game during a season, a feat previously accomplished by Manute Bol in the 1985/86 season.
In addition to his remarkable achievements, Wembanyama has been shortlisted as one of the top three contenders for the Defensive Player of the Year award, alongside Rudy Gobert of Minnesota and Bam Adebayo of Miami. The ultimate winner will be revealed on Tuesday.
