Stanley Cup playoffs: Hurricanes stay alive with shutout win over Panthers in Florida.

This game was crucial for the Hurricanes, who were trailing 3-0 prior to Game 4. In fact, they rarely held a lead in any of the preceding three games, during which they were outscored 16-4.
The first period was mostly uneventful, particularly as neither team was able to capitalize on their scoring opportunities. The visiting Hurricanes registered 13 shots on goal compared to the hosts' nine. Aside from one power play that Carolina successfully defended, the initial 20 minutes lacked significant excitement.
A pivotal moment in the match occurred midway through the period when Logan Stankoven scored, giving the Hurricanes the lead. Alexander Nikishin delivered a first-time pass to the third-line winger, who was in a prime scoring position. His shot found the back of the net, surpassing Sergei Bobrovsky and marking the first time the Hurricanes led in the series.
The Panthers, eager to conclude the series that night, attempted to regain control of the game. After falling behind, they were awarded three additional power play chances throughout the match.
Ultimately, they were unable to penetrate the defense of the visiting team. In fact, they came close to trailing by two goals at the six-and-a-half-minute mark of the final period, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside call following a coach's challenge.
Nevertheless, Florida was unable to score throughout the game. In the end, they conceded two empty-net goals in the closing moments, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. This marked only the second occasion in this NHL playoff season that they failed to register a goal in a game.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday, as the teams return to Carolina for what represents the Panthers' second opportunity to conclude their series and secure their third consecutive Stanley Cup.
